Innovative "Art of Fashion: Tableaux de Mode" Held at Timken Museum of Art
Fashionistas from throughout the county met at the Timken Museum of Art on Saturday, August 9, 2008 for a rare evening of fine art and fashion called, "The Art of Fashion: Tableaux de Mode." This first-time event featured the work of 10 Fashion Careers College students who provided modern interpretations of the clothes worn in eight of the Timken's old masters paintings.
The designs, which ranged from pants to mini-skirts to flowing gowns, were modeled 'in tableaux' with models showcasing the designs in front of the works of art. Later, the models joined the crowd to informally model the creations.
Event Chair Patricia O'Connor, president and founder of Fashion Careers College and longstanding Timken docent and supporter, and Honorary Chair Zandra Rhodes welcomed guests and introduced the designers.
Cost for the event was $50 per person. Proceeds will be used to benefit Timken Museum of Art programs. The event boasted such success that it is expected to be an annual event with Fashion Careers College students as the designers.
